Dan Mortensen
Dan Mortensen grew up in Cameron, WI and began his hunting career at an early age, tagging along with his dad on bird and deer hunts. "Hunting with my dad is what got me started. I would carry my BB gun, just wishing I was old enough to take hunters safety and go on my own" Dan says. I think my 12th birthday was the most special to me; I was out hunting partridge minutes after I turned 12 years old. I got the second one I shot at, and I'll never forget the feeling of that day," he adds. Dan may have learned to hunt in the great Wisconsin outdoors, but after heading off to the US Air Force Academy, he ended up with ten years of hunting adventures in Colorado, North Dakota, and Alaska. "Alaska is an amazing place, where hunting takes on a whole new meaning. The scenery and experiences there are simply incredible." Dan got into remote "rafting" adventures in search of bear, moose, and caribou and became successful at navigating the back country and finding game.
He joined Campfire Stories in 2009, not only as Field Staff, but as the show Editor. "It's amazing seeing our footage transform into shows through my computer. When I saw the first one on TV, I was floored. Campfire Stories has been an awesome experience for me." These days, Dan resides back in Wisconsin and has a 9 month old son Carson. "I think the day he is old enough to hunt will be even better than my 12th birthday. Tune into the show in 2020 and hopefully our viewers can enjoy it too!"
